SpArC and Housing on the agenda at Bishop’s Castle meeting
Members of the public will be given the chance to discuss housing policy with representatives of Shropshire Council and South Shropshire Housing Association at the next meeting of the Bishop's Castle, Chirbury & Worthen and Clun Local Joint Committee (LJC) when it meets at The SparC Centre in Bishop’s Castle on 9th February.
Shropshire Council is currently consulting with town and parish councils on the location of future development sites for housing, and the issue of how to provide affordable housing is a key issue in rural areas. The meeting will provide members of the public with an update on the latest polices, and give them the opportunity to ask questions of the officers.
There will also be an update on leisure provision in Bishop’s Castle from Shropshire Council and Teme Leisure. “The community is keen to learn how their Leisure Centre is faring amid the cuts and so this is an important item for them”. Said LJC Chairman, Cllr Heather Kidd.
The Local Policing Team will be on hand, and Members of the public will get the chance to ask their local councillors questions during the course of the meeting.
“Housing is a really important issue in the rural areas of South Shropshire. We hope that the meeting will help people understand more about the measures the Council and South Shropshire Housing Association are developing to tackle housing needs” said Heather Kidd, Shropshire Councillor for Chirbury and Worthen ward “We also want to get communities to think about the level of housing they need over the next ten years, to help maintain their local services such as schools, post offices and village halls”
The Bishop's Castle, Chirbury & Worthen and Clun Local Joint Committee takes place on Thursday 9 February at the SparC Centre in Bishop’s Castle, starting at 7pm. Everyone is welcome
