FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR EXCITING PROJECTS

Members of Eastern Shrewsbury Local Joint Committee are encouraging local groups, residents and organisations to come forward with ideas for activities which could make a difference in the area – they have almost £6,000 to allocate to projects which demonstrate they can generate lots of community activity, and will offer a positive and lasting legacy for the area – one-off projects are unlikely to be successful;  however, if you have an idea which you think would have wide community appeal, then the LJC wants to hear from you.  Chairman of Eastern Shrewsbury LJC said “there’s a lot happening this year – the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee provide a perfect opportunity to get involved in new and creative activities – from flag making to street parties – we want to make sure that our local residents get a slice of the action, – we’d be particularly keen to hear about ideas for projects in the Telford Way and Crowmoor areas”.  Flourishing Communities Portfolio Holder, Gwilym Butler added “the Eastern Shrewsbury LJC has funded many worthy projects; however, there are many people who haven’t yet got involved – this is an opportunity to build on the great work already underway, and increase community activity across the area”.
