Local Joint Committee meeting 1st March
Date: 20 Feb, 2012
Come and Ask…… Do you have a question for our panel?
Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee is holding its next meeting at Rockspring Community Centre, Ludlow on Thursday 1st March. From 6.30pm there will be a Police PACT session, where you can speak to one of the Local Police Officers about any concerns you have.
The meeting will then start at 7pm, with information on the Olympic Torch relay which is coming through Ludlow and Clee Hill on 24th May. There is a new Rockspring Heritage Project being launched and volunteers are encouraged to come forward with local historic information and help with research. The Committee has received grant bids from 6 projects and will be deciding on these at the end of the evening.
The second half of the meeting will be Public Question time. The panel answering your questions will be made up of Shropshire Councillors, Town and Parish Councillors, the Police, Jean Jarvis from South Shropshire Furniture Scheme and officers from South Shropshire Housing Association and Shropshire Council.
Residents of Ludlow and its surrounding parishes are encouraged to attend this meeting and ask any burning question they have for the panel, over a cup of tea and cakes, provided by the community centre and made by local volunteers for Grow, Cook & Share.
Shropshire Councillor Rosanna Taylor-Smith, who chairs the meeting, said: “We are trying a new format for our meeting at Rockspring, and hope that lots of people will attend and have their question answered on the night.
As 2012 is a big celebratory year with the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, the Ludlow and Clee Local Joint Committee is also pleased to announce that they have set aside some of their budget to help local communities celebrate this year and have memories for the future, so any group that is celebrating the torch relay or the Queens Diamond Jubilee can apply for a contribution to their project’
Any groups wishing to apply should contact Vicky Turner, Shropshire Council’s Community Action Officer at vicky.turner@shropshire.gov.uk or 07582 002 007 who can advise and assist on the application process or with anything else you would like to know about our meetings.”
